Known as “The World’s Toughest Inflatable Boat Challenge,” the Trans Agulhas Challenge is a legendary endurance event held annually along South Africa’s spectacular southern coastline. Starting on 28 December in Plettenberg Bay, this fast-paced and action-packed competition sees more than 40 inflatable boats battling powerful surf and racing over 700 km of open water in just four days.
Hosted by the Agulhas Inflatable Boat Club (AIBC), this world-class event has become the ultimate test of skill, teamwork, and endurance — pushing both man and machine to their limits. Over the years, the Trans Agulhas Challenge has inspired innovation in inflatable boat design and remains one of the most exhilarating water sport events on the international calendar.
