Moss Rates Official Code of Conduct & Publication Standards

MossRates Code of Conduct and Publication Standards

Our mission has always been to give Mossel Bay residents a fair, open, and effective platform to raise their voices. For that to work, we need shared values. A clear code of conduct keeps discussions focused, helps everyone feel welcome, and sets the tone for positive collaboration. At its core, this is about respect, transparency, and putting our energy into solving problems — not creating new ones.

Respectful discussion builds a stronger community

We’re all passionate about Mossel Bay, and strong opinions are part of healthy debate. But we also value kindness and maturity. That means:

  • No personal attacks or name-calling

  • Critique ideas, not people

  • Keep discussions constructive, even when you disagree

When we hold ourselves to this standard, our collective voice becomes stronger, more credible, and harder to ignore.

What we publish reflects our values

MossRates aims to be a trusted platform — fair, factual, and balanced. To protect that trust:

  • All articles, updates, and posts will be vetted for accuracy

  • We avoid sensationalism and stick to facts

  • Member contributions are welcome, but must meet the same standards of respect and truth

This ensures residents can rely on what they read here and engage with confidence.

Everyone belongs here

Mossel Bay is home to people from all walks of life. We want everyone — regardless of age, background, or beliefs — to feel safe joining the conversation. Discrimination, hate speech, and exclusion have no place in our community.

Accountability keeps the platform fair

A code of conduct only works if we apply it consistently. That means:

  • Owning up to mistakes when they happen

  • Respecting decisions made by the community and moderators

  • Understanding that repeated violations may lead to removed posts or, in serious cases, member suspension

The goal isn’t punishment — it’s protecting a space where people can engage without intimidation or misinformation.

The point isn’t to limit voices — it’s to amplify them

The Code of Conduct and Publication Standards aren’t about silencing anyone. They exist to make the platform stronger and more effective. By committing to respect and accuracy, we can focus on what really matters: building a stronger, fairer Mossel Bay — together.
